Daisy Straughn Beaver, age 91, of Salisbury, passed away January 6, 2018 at the Lutheran Home at Trinity Oaks.

She was born July 1, 1926 in Rowan County to the late Dennis Franklin Straughn and Vertle Christenbury and a 1943 graduate of Spencer High School.

A long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, she was active in many ministries including teaching Primary Sunday School, advisor to the Senior High Youth and a member of the Eva Peeler Bible Class.

Daisy managed Reliable Jewelers in Salisbury until her retirement. She was a retired member of the VFW #3006, Harold B. Jarrett American Legion Auxiliary #342 and served for many years as Chairman of the Veteran Affairs and Recreation with the VA Medical Center.

Daisy is predeceased by her husband Guy Thomas Beaver and is survived by her daughters Linda Ward (Bob) of Lexington and Debra Benson of Orlando, FL, three grandchildren, Gay Gunn (Carl) of Westfield, Michelle Ketchie (Walter) of Salisbury, Chloe Benson of Orlando, FL and three great-grandchildren, Sara Walser, Eliza Walser and Emma Gunn.

Visitation will be 1:00-1:45PM, Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Peeler Hall.

A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 2:00PM, Saturday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 West Innes Street, Salisbury, NC 28144, conducted by Rev. Rhodes Woolly. Burial will immediately follow at City Memorial Park.
