Richard “Rick” Eugene Smith, 66, of Salisbury passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at his residence. Rick was born June 13, 1951 in Mecklenburg County to the Late Harold I. Smith and Mazzele Thomas Smith. He was a graduate of Ellerbee High School class of 1969.
He is preceded in death by his brother Harold E Smith.
Rick is survived by his wife, Jean Nance Smith, of 35 years. He is also survived by two daughters, Hope Diane Smith Palmer and Robert of Concord, Shelley Smith Foster and William of China Grove; two grandchildren Ellasyn and Kathryn Foster; one sister Kelly Bost and Jim of Harrisburg.
He was a loving husband, father and Pop-Pop. Rick will be remembered as an avid golfer and loyal Carolina fan.
Visitation is 2:00pm Monday, October 30th, 2017 at Haven Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall 207 W Harrison St, Salisbury, NC 28144.
Services will be at 2:30pm on Monday, October 30th, 2017 at Haven Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall.
The family will gather at William and Shelley Foster’s residence immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Disabled American Veterans at Salisbury, NC DAV Chapter: Rowan County #96 1601 Brenner Ave, Salisbury, NC 28144

I can just see him Harold and Leonard in heaven and the Lord saying I finally got a quiet one.I will miss him so much he was not only my nephew but my friend.Love you Jean,Hope and Shelley.

He was a wonderful brother (in-law). So nice and would give the shirt off his back to help you. I love him very much and will truly be missed.
