Dorothy “Geneva” Grissett Stack, 90, passed away on September 25, 2017 at the Laurels of Salisbury. Geneva was born on December 3, 1926 to her late parents Sarah Mae Grissett and George Washington Grissett. She was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” Lloyd Stack on January 22, 2000 and her brother George Russell Grissett.
Geneva was a Sunday school teacher to the Adult class and led the ladies’ weekly prayer group. She was a devoted wife and mother to two daughters. Her delight came from serving family and encouraging hurting hearts with hope. Bill and Geneva were former owners of the Glidden Paint Store in Salisbury.
In the last 17 months, she lived at the Laurels of Salisbury where she enjoyed the many new friends and loving staff. Much gratitude and appreciation to all who cared for her.
Geneva is survived by her one sister Peggy Grissett Leonard of Jamestown, two brothers J.S. Grissett, Steve Grissett (Glenda) of Jamestown, two daughters Toni Stack Iossi (Milton) and Meloney Stack Ruhlman of Salisbury, three grandsons Graham Iossi of Salisbury, Seth Ruhlman (Tiffany) of Hawaii, Grant Ruhlman (Amber Gruene) of Durham, NC, two great grandsons Mason Ruhlman and Ellis Ruhlman.
Visitation services will be from 10:00am – 11:00am on Thursday, September 28th at River of Life Church with the service to begin at 11:00am. Reverend Vic Sassano will be officiating with the assistance of Carol Lee.
A private burial service will be at Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro, NC.
Because of Geneva’s love of her church, the family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to River of Life Church, 210 W Ritchie Rd, Salisbury, NC 28147.
Lyerly Funeral Home is serving the Stack family. Online condolences may be made at www.lyerlyfuneralhome.com.
