Joy W. Bostian, 65 of Salisbury passed away on Tuesday, August 8th, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Bostian was born December 5th, 1951 in Durham County to her parents Helen Marie Thompson of Elk Grove, CA and the late Ervin Gene Wright. She was retired from the Department of Corrections as a Correctional Officer.
Joy and her husband James Lee Bostian were married on March 26th, 1993 and he preceded her in death on May 10, 2017. She is also preceded in death by her brothers Clarence Wright and Michael Wright as well a grandson and grandson in law. Ms. Bostian is survived by her sons Michael McDowell, Lexington, NC, Paul McDowell of Texas and Stepson Josh Bostian as well as her daughter Paula (PJ) M. Church and husband Terry Church of Mocksville, NC and Tammy and her husband Jake Ferrell. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Althoff Elk Grove, CA and Helen and Garry Chappell of Graham, NC. Mrs. Bostian has thirteen grandchildren, one great grandchild and one great grandchild on the way.
Visitation: 12:30-1:30 PM Saturday, August 12th, 2017 at Landmark Church 1910 Mooresville Rd Salisbury, NC 28147. Family will be at her residence at other times.
Service: 2:00PM at Landmark Church conducted by Reverend Mike Roberson and burial will follow at City Memorial Park with Honors accorded by the Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask donations be made in her memory to Rowan Hospice House 720 Grove St, Salisbury, NC 28144.

PJ, I know you are going through a tough time and I wish I could be there for you. I love mom as if she were my mom, I am so glad that I got to spend time with her and hear her tell me she loved me. I send my condolences to all the family.
