Victor Paul Vlieg, 70, of Spencer passed away on Sunday July 30, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
He was born April 20, 1947 in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Victor Jesus Vlieg and Jean Kalstein Melodia.
Victor honorably served his country in the US Army. After his military service he was a CNC machinist with Bridgeport Machines.
Victor was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Catherine Felice Dodge Vlieg and step-father Eliodoro Thomas Melodia.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons Paul Vlieg and wife Patricia of Landis and Gene Vlieg of Charlotte, daughters Charrie Vlieg and companion Chris Edwards of Mocksville and Christine Vlieg and companion Andrew Hirsch of Charlotte, stepsons Jeremy Bliss of Charlotte and John Bliss Statesville, brothers Joey Melodia and Thomas Melodia and wife Phyllis, step-sister Mary Melodia Silver, two grandsons Ethan Paul Vlieg and Aiden Dean Smith, three granddaughters Catlyn Felice Smith, Katherine Anne Hirsch and Christina Catherine Pedigo and one great-grandson Jeremiah Christian Bryant.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday August 14, 2017 at the Old Historic Salisbury National Cemetery, 202 Government Road, Salisbury, NC 28144. Military honors will be accorded by the Lyerly Volunteer Honor Guard.
