Albert N. "A.N." Honeycutt, Jr.



Albert N. “A.N.” Honeycutt, Jr. 88, of Salisbury passed away on Friday May 19, 2017 at Liberty Commons.

He was born August 30, 1928 in Rowan County to the late Maude Winders and the late Albert N. Honeycutt, Sr.

After graduating Spencer High School, he became a contractor and helped build Disney World and Carowinds, as well as the Winn-Dixie Stores. Following in his Father’s footsteps, he enjoyed teaching his son, grandchildren and great grandchildren the carpentry trade; thereby, carrying on “The Family Tradition” earning the nickname “G.P.”
A.N. enjoyed watching westerns, John Wayne, the Miami Dolphins and Carolina Panthers football, and Atlanta Braves baseball. At his annual Christmas Eve parties his daughters, granddaughter and great granddaughters would hand out presents while he told his famous Christmas stories.

He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church and attended Oakdale Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Jessie Barker Honeycutt; brothers: Roe, R.J., Bob and Woody Honeycutt; sisters: Ree Cannon, Lou Fraley, Louise and Josephine Honeycutt; nephews: Dale Cannon, Glen Honeycutt and Mickey Cannon.

Mr. Honeycutt, the last of his family, is survived by his son Dan Honeycutt of Charlotte; son-in-law’s: Larry Wilson of Salisbury, Jerry Peeler of Salisbury; daughters: Bonnie Honeycutt of Spencer, Linda Wilson of Salisbury; sister-in-law Betty Honeycutt of Salisbury; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special honorary family members.

There will be a graveside service at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, May 26 at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Richard Gross and Pastor Jeff Norton officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Church’s Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oakdale Baptist Church, 200 Charles Street, Spencer, NC 28159 in memory of Albert Honeycutt, Jr.
