Robert Theodore Durrette, Jr.



Robert Theodore Durrette, Jr., 85, of Salisbury went home to be with his Savior and Lord on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.

He was born March 31, 1932 in Beaver Dam, VA to the late Alice Gordon Durrette and the late Robert Theodore Durrette, Sr.

After attending Beaver Dam High School, Robert honorably served forty years of federal service: twenty years in the U.S. Air Force followed by twenty years in the Postal Service.
He was a member of Bethel Methodist Church in Salisbury. In addition he was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 60 years Mary Eller Durrette of Salisbury; sons Robert Theodore Durrette, III (Ann) of Glen Burnie, MD, Timothy Dana Durrette of Salisbury; daughter Wanda D. Collins (John) of Williamsburg, VA; sister Pauline Mistro (George) of IL; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 19 from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M. at Bethel United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in the sanctuary with Pastor Josh Brittan officiating. Military honors will be accorded by Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Honor Guard. Burial will immediately follow at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church, 2380 Long Ferry Road, Salisbury, NC 28146 in memory of Robert Durrette.
