Lucile Ruth Chisholm, 79, of Granite Quarry passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. She was born March 17, 1938 in Auburn, NY, a daughter to the late James V. Chisholm and Ruth Abar Chisholm. She was of the Episcopal faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband William (Bill) Brewer, son Allen D. Markley, daughter Nancy Markley, grandson Trevor Zuraf and brother James Chisholm.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons James Markley of LaCanada, CA and William Paul Markley of Moorpark, CA, daughters Susan English (Paul) of Auburn, NY, Karen Allison (Kelly) of LaCanada, CA, Tia Zuraf (Kevin) of Cornelius, NC and Jolene Houchins (David) of Gold Hill, NC, sixteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Inky.
All who knew Lucile knew that her greatest joy was her children. She loved her country and the military, NASCAR, horses, telling stories, sweet tea and salad, bagpipes, country music, and friendships.
A celebration of Lucile's life will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 6th at the Holshouser Barn, 2015 Mooresville Road, Salisbury 28147. A lunch reception will immediately follow the service. At Lucile's request, please come dressed in "pretty colors and no black". She has asked that we celebrate her life and be happy that she has reunited with Bill.
