James Byron Fox passed away at the Salisbury VA Center on March 13, 2024, at the age of 69.
James was born on March 10, 1955, to the late Claudine Grace Brown and Carl Daniel Fox. He was a classically trained and gifted drummer, performing in his first paid gig at the age of 12. Most recently he worked as an engineering clerk with Becker SMC in Huntington, WV. James owned his own business, Tech Trek, a computer installation and repair service. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran. He traveled to various US based locations as a member of the one and only Navy Steel Band for the bicentennial celebrations. His father was a combat Marine and like him, his half-brother had served in the Navy.
Even though the most recent cancers ganged up on him all at once, he remained undefeated by them, instead succumbing to unforeseen medical complications.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife Kim Ridings Fox of Mocksville; his son J.V. Michael Fox of WV; as well as several cousins from the Brown side of the family in Greensboro and numerous former bandmates.
A service will be at 10:00 am on Monday April 8, 2024 at the Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd, Salisbury, NC 28144.
